A Win, A Sufferfest and A Disaster.
It was a busy weekend all around. I went into it not feeling so hot. My training last week on Thursday and Friday was total poo. I got in the workouts but didn't enjoy them, nor did they feel especially strong. My times, power, HR - everything was off. I emailed some bratty messages to the coach about how poopy I felt. Yup, Coach knows how bad things are when I revert to speaking like a 3 year old. Ugg.
Eric's response was that I should just move on and not dwell on the workouts. Instead, get out for a long base ride and brick run on Saturday. I talked Sam into doing it with me and we had a spectacular (dare I say: Spooktacular?!) time - chatting, laughing and riding our way around Northern CT and NY state. 6 hours later, we were done and vowing to do it again with a group the following week.
I opted for a quick nap with the dog while Sam ventured to Costco for last-minute party food and home goods. Before I knew it, we were packing the car: Dog, costumes, some kick-a$$ boots.
The house looked great - it's funny, I still feel that little stomach flip when I go to Tarrywile. I remember years ago visiting for the first time. Spending our first Halloween together there and so many more memories. It is a beautiful park and well, the house is beautiful, even if it is the Cannondale "Man Town".
Sam's futon didn't make the great move, and I can't say it was enjoyable sleeping in it again, but it certainly beat driving home in the middle of the night.
The party was epic, as usual. Friends old and new joined together for a night of debauchery. Sam and I were neck-and-neck in the under-dressed department ( a first, since he's managed to be MORE naked each year!). Costumes ran the gamut from current events to old classics.
We made it to bed sometime around 3:30 AM and I was sad, yet thankful that Coach opted to not have me race on Halloween. Bummed for sure to miss the Kent Pumpkin Run, but beyond ecstatic that they had such a HUGE turnout and great weather!
And now, without further adieu - the first few pictures!
Lady Gaga (from the Telephone video) and Captain America - chaps and all!
...And the chaps come off. Looks like my wig is about to come off too... eek! Yes, I know: "Why are you wearing a wig when you're hair is longer and the same color?!" - Well, inquiring minds, I didn't want to die my hair yellow on the ends. Yea, I'm a pansy.
That's all you get for now - long run time. More photos to come! 27 days 'til Cozumel! Oh, and my first cross race in December... yea, you heard right.
