I'm Not Dead Yet!

Ok, so I have been HORRIBLE about updating my blog these past few weeks.  It was utter mayhem leading into the 10th Anniversary Lake Waramaug Tri that ended up being a FANTASTIC event!  Many thanks to all the athletes, spectators and volunteers for your support!

It was partyville with families and others picnicing and hanging out.  Just beyond cool.

Then it was off to Texas.  I didn't really have any expectations from this race (well, I did when I signed up, but that was right after St Croix and pre-Lyme/life mayhem/party weight gain).  So, I went down to Texas for fun and to see what would happen.  Well, the Texas part was fun.  It still amazes me that 100 degrees there (dry heat) feels better than 75 and 100% humidity here in CT.  Race morning brought a nice "double-ender" - whether from food poisoning (a few other athletes that ate at Orlando's in Lubbock, TX were also sick) or the meds destroying my tummy - things were not good.  I opted to get in the water anyways and see if I felt better after some movement.

I ended up swimming alone, but came out of the water in 30 min. anyways.  Not a great swim, but not horrible, all thigns considered.

I hopped on the bike and immediately passed a bunch of people...no one down there can climb!  It was windy and sunny with no clouds.  The bike was nothing to write home about performace-wise and throwing up the entire time didn't really feel great.  The course was beautiful, though.

Coming into transition, the medical team watched me hurl one last time and pulled me out of the race.  I declined medical treatment and made my way back to the car.  Dissapointed, but at the same time, confident that not doing the run was the smart choice.  I wallowed for a bit on the 30 min. car ride back to my hotel, but once there, the sadness had passed.  It helped to talk to Coach Eric, Sam and my Mom.  Eric made me promise not to put my bike on EBay and gain some perspective.

I arrived home to find my new uni had arrived... pics to follow.  Now there's motivation!

Step 1: Get healthy.

Step 2: Get back to rockin!

I'm coming back, y'all!!!
