A Win, A Sufferfest and A Disaster.
Because on I'm on the sidelines for a bit, I decided to volunteer at my friend Evan's race on Sunday. He puts on a fantastic event, the Ridgefield Triathlon. The weather forecast was pretty scary, but by race start, the skies were simply cloudy, no RAIN!
I was posted on the bike/run course at a busy section. It is just wild seeing the variety of athletes out there. It is beyond inspiring! When racing, you really don't get a chance to interact with all ends of the race, but as a volunteer, you are there from the first to the very last.
A before-5 AM wake-up meant that by 11 AM I was home. Sadly, I burned all my matches (aka all my energy) volunteering and proceeded to sleep on the lawn for a few hours. No training, but this Lyme infested body is just capable of so much.
Lu and I did muster some gardening, though with a Tornado watch in effect, I opted against a bike or a run. That means today I'm hoping for 3 workouts. We'll see! Today is my first LOCAL open water swim with the naked crew... they get in the water, then ditch the suits!
