A Win, A Sufferfest and A Disaster.
Wheph - it's been a busy few days here in MandyLand - only bound to get busier!
Training has been going well - with the addition of some brand spankin' new and super fast training buddies, I'm feeling fitter by the day!
Add to that, racing with the "A" racers last night at Bethel and I am happy as can be... albeit hot! Whether it is the weather or my metabolism, I seem to be hot and sticky (sweet) all the time - hah! Last night was a points race. Let me remind you, the "A" racers are all current and former pros, and Cat 1-3 Men. These guys are FAST and many are Criterium specialists. (they can go around and around VERY fast!). The pace started off nice enough - a little bonus warm up, then we hit the first set of sprints - 5 sprints from laps 25 down. Then 5 more sprints at 15 to go, then another 5 sprints at 5 to go.
Mercifully, I had a mechanical close to the end and got to soft pedal up to my cheer squad of shirt-less, beer drinking boys.
Communal dinner with drop-in guests and you've got yourself one great night!
Tonight Sam-boy and I make our way North for the bday extravaganza. First to NH for some family time, then to Boston for a Sox game and debauchery, then back to CT for party after party this Memorial Day weekend... oh, and somewhere in there I'll get in about 15 hours of training. Sweeeeeet!
